Foundry FAQs
What are your candles made with?
Spirited Ambiance candles are made with 100% all natural soy wax produced from US-grown soybeans. Soy wax is environmentally friendly as soy wax is made from a renewable source. Soy wax also burns longer and cleaner with minimal soot build-ups.
How are the glass bottles cut?
Spirited Ambiance candles are hand-cut using a specialized tool to create a clean edge. The bottles are then hand-sanded for a smooth finish.
Where do all the bottles come from?
The candles come in hundreds of varieties of beer, wine, soda, cider, juice, liquor, coffee and kombucha bottles. All of these bottles or 'embryos' are acquired from personal use, friends, family, neighbors, customers, co-workers and local businesses. The bottles are donated to Spirited Ambiance and up cycled into candles, keeping the bottles out of landfills, and ensuring a greener environment.
How many scents are available?
Spirited Ambiance candles were originally available in only 4 scents, now there are over 150 scents available. That number grows with the changing seasons, customer suggestions, and as new fragrances become available.
How long will my new candle burn?
Small beer/soda candles burn ~40-50 hours.
Wine candles burn 50+ hours.
Large beer/cider candles burn ~50-65 hours.
What are the wicks made from?
Spirited Ambiance wicks are metal-free and made from all natural ring-spun cotton. The wicks have a high-melt natural wax coating for maximum rigidity. They are flat braided with thin paper threads that help give the wick a rigid structure without the need for a core. These wicks work excellent in my soy wax candles.
Do you make custom pieces?
I love doing custom work. You provide a bottle and choose a scent and I will create your personalized soy wax candle.
Ideas for custom work: Special bottles saved from a wedding, anniversary, birthday, or special event. Someone's favorite beer, soda, or vodka. Original, or custom labels for wedding centerpieces, party favors, etc.
How do I get the most out of my handmade candle?
The first time you burn your candle, let it get a melt pool across the top of the candle. Usually 1 hour per 1" of candle diameter. This will set the soy wax memory allowing the candle to burn down evenly thereafter.
Candle Safety
To prevent fire and serious injury: burn candle within sight. Keep away from drafts and vibrations. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never burn candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
Trim wick to 1/4" before lighting. Keep candle free of any foreign materials including matches and wick trimmings. Only burn the candle on a level, fire resistant surface. Do not burn the candle more than 4 hours at a time.
